A (cake) smashing good time!

Happy 1st Birthday to Mason!  I can’t believe a year has passed since I first met you at 9 days new!  It’s been so fun watching you grow and see your personality shine.  I was thrilled when creative Mom suggested we do a special Mason session to celebrate and even more thrilled that there was going to be cake… and bubbles.

This was also a fun opportunity for me as it was in my kitchen… yay for successful in home studio work (or makeshift kitchen pretending to be an in home studio).  I was just happy to know that it could be done and it worked out perfectly for this mini session.

We started off with some bubbles, a bow tie and an adorable little hat!  After a few minutes of warming up he charmed us with his giggles and smiles and those big beautiful eyes!

Mom and I were fully prepared for cake to go flying and for Derby to be on clean up duty, but Mason surprised us all by being the cleanest cake smasher I’ve ever met!  I think Mom and I spent more time smashing the cake around than Mason.  Mom coaxed Mason into his first bites of frosting and after a few seconds Mason decided that eating delicious bits of frosting and cake was a much better option than flinging it elsewhere.  Smart little man!

I’m so happy I was able to share this special moment with Mason and capture his delight.  According to Julia Child “A party without cake is just a meeting”, and I would have to agree.  So here’s to Mason and many many more years of wonderful parties and birthday celebrations!
